BRONAGH WAUGH takes the leading role of Sally-Ann Spector in BBC2’s much anticipated five part mini series, The Fall, and stars alongside Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan.
Set in Northern Ireland, a high-profile murder remains unsolved. Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (Anderson) is drafted in from the London Metropolitan Police to review the investigation.
But this compelling drama isn’t a whodunit. Rather, a will-they-stop-him? The audience watch the killer, Paul Spector (Dornan) go to work, kiss his wife, Sally-Ann (BRONAGH), and children goodnight, and then go out killing. The case will be explored in all its complexity, establishing on screen how it is that a modern, top-level Murder Investigation Team work when they come up against every police officer’s worst nightmare.
The series is written and executive produced by Allan Cubitt (The Runaway, Murphy’s Law, Prime Suspect) and directed by Jakob Verbruggen.
The Fall and Sally-Ann Spector are a world away from Cheryl Brady in Hollyoaks which BRONAGH is best known for and she has relished the challenge, explaining;
“I am so thrilled and honoured to have been given this opportunity by the BBC. It is such a challenging and demanding role that I feel will really stretch me and explore my range.”
The Fall airs on Monday 13th May, 9:00pm, on BBC2.
